Copper Center is founded by the Athena peoples for salmon fishing for upwards of 5000-7000 ago years, around every bend of the Copper River there is a settlement of peoples, even today campers and fisherman swarm the Copper River basin. To this day many native residents depend on subsistence hunting, fishing, trapping and gathering throughout the basin.
