Prudhoe Bay & Denali Adventure #FPD81

Day 1 - Fairbanks:

Trans Alaska PipelineYour Alaska vacation begins in the city of Fairbanks. It is a beautiful city, decorated year-round; in the summer with flowers, and in the winter with ice sculptures. As with many cities in Alaska, a great way to see Fairbanks, is to simply walk around! You can pick up a Downtown Walking Tour brochure at the visitor’s center, or just explore on your own. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 2 - Fairbanks (B):

This morning, embark on the Riverboat Discovery Tour; a three-and-a half hour cruise on an authentic Sternwheeler Riverboat that will take you into the heart of Alaska. As a part of your cruise, take a personalized tour of the Chena Indian Village with Alaskan Native guides, it’s a great way to gain insight into the Athabascan Indian culture. You will then take a shuttle to a tour that will give you insight into Fairbanks's gold mining history; the Gold Dredge No. 8. Take a train ride, see the massive gold dredge, and try your hand at gold panning - you get to keep what you find! Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 3 - Fairbanks to Coldfoot (B):

Today, get set for your adventure north of the Arctic Circle! Venture north on the rugged Dalton Highway in the comfort of personalized tour vans. Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post in the rural community of Joy, a great chance to do a little gift shopping! See the mighty Yukon River, and learn about the river's storied past before crossing the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion, and receiving your Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Afterwards, continue to rustic Coldfoot, for an overnight stay. Each room has it's own private bath, and there is a café serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overnight in Coldfoot.

Day 4 - Coldfoot to Deadhorse:

Denali Backcountry LodgeToday, visit the historic community of Wiseman; then pass through the majestic Brooks Mountain Range and cross over the Continental Divide at Atigun Pass. Overnight at Deadhorse.

Day 5 - Deadhorse to Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks:

Visit the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and complete your Arctic Ocean Adventure by dipping your toes into the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean. Then, enjoy a beautiful flight back to Fairbanks, where your Alaska adventure continues. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Take the Cruise!

My wife and I honeymooned in Alaska and had the most breathtaking experience on the Prince William Sound cruise. The water was incredibly calm, and the glaciers magnificent. Dinner was also fantastic.
