Grand Alaska Tour ...Anchorage, Seward, Denali, Tour Package #GAT-101

Native Heritage CenterNote: This tour can also be reversed, starting in Fairbanks and terminating in Anchorage or Seward.

Day 1 - Anchorage:

Arrive in Anchorage, check into your hotel, and take a short taxi ride, to experience indigenous Alaskan Culture at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. The center provides programs in both academic and informal settings, including workshops, demonstrations, and guided tours of indoor exhibits and outdoor village sites. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 2 - Anchorage Fly Out Bear Viewing (B|L):

Today get set for an exciting fly-out Bear Viewing Tour to Alaska's remote Redoubt Bay. Depart via float plane and land at the doorstep of a remote wilderness lodge in prime Alaska bear viewing country. The flight offers spectacular scenic views of the Cook Inlet and the western edge of the Kenai Peninsula. Your guide will escort you by boat to watch the amazing Brown Bears in their natural habitat. Relax and enjoy a homemade lunch before the scenic flight back to Anchorage. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 3 - Anchorage to Seward (B):

Today, board the Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic train to Seward, winding along the scenic Turnagain Arm. Then embark on a 5 hour Resurrection Bay Wildlife cruise. To allow for up close encounters with wildlife, the captain will guide ship alongside massive bird rookeries and Sea Lion colonies stopping along the route to view passing whales and Sea Otters. During the cruise you'll pass towering alpine glaciers, including the enormous Bear Glacier, while enjoying spectacular photo opportunities galore from the many outdoor viewing decks. For lunch, enjoy a Salmon and Prime Rib buffet served on board(Included). Overnight in Seward.

Day 4 - Seward (L):

This morning, enjoy a self-guided tour of the Alaska SeaLife Center at your own pace. Witness a 2000+ pound Stellar Sea Lion gliding past underwater viewing windows, puffins diving in a carefully crafted naturalistic habitat, and Harbor Seals resting on rocky beaches. Optional behind the scenes tours of the center are also available. Later in day, immerse yourself in the Real Alaska Tour with Iditarod winner Mitch Seavey's IdidaRide Sled Dog Tours. Tour the City of Seward, hear about 1964 Tsunami, visit Exit Glacier, and get to experience IdidaRide's Wilderness Dog Sled Ride and Tour. Lunch at an authentic Alaskan roadhouse is Included. Board the Coastal Classic train to Anchorage arriving in the evening. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 5 - Anchorage to Denali Park Entrance (B):

Scenic Lunch RaftingTake the morning Motorcoach from Anchorage to Denali Cabins, a unique property south of the park entrance. Denali Cabins' collection of 46 cozy Cedar Cabins are spacious enough to have modern conveniences such as private baths, televisions, telephones, and contemporary furnishings, yet still have the charm of an authentic Alaskan cabin. Later in the afternoon embark on a scenic rafting excursion. With two hours of scenic and mild water rafting on the Nenana River, this trip is perfect for families. Hold on and enjoy your introduction to rafting in Alaska; there are opportunities to see moose, sheep, Caribou, and even bears as you raft 11 miles downstream. Experience the most scenic part of the Nenana River on this unbelievably scenic trip. Overnight at Denali Cabins.

Day 6 - Denali Park Entrance to Kantishna (B|D):

After enjoying Denali Cabins Deluxe Continental Breakfast(Included), you will have some free time before boarding our afternoon bus to the Denali Backcountry Lodge. The trip to the Lodge is an adventure in and of itself; it is an amazingly beautiful ride and offers great opportunities for wildlife viewing. Our drivers/guides provide a natural history interpretation along the way and will help you spot wildlife. Arrive to the lodge in the evening, welcomed by a hearty dinner(Included) and check in to your cozy Cedar Cabin. You will spend the next two nights at Denali Backcountry Lodge soaking in the deep experience of Denali. All activities, programs, meals and snacks are included while at the Lodge. Overnight at Denali Backcountry Lodge.

Day 7 - Kantishna (B|L|D):

Denali Backcountry LodgeEnjoy your day at the Lodge and get acquainted with the area and activities! Choose from the numerous activities or simply relax and enjoy the majestic beauty of Denali National Park. There are many activities at the Lodge from hiking, mountain biking, gold panning, Natural History programs, Wonder Lake shuttles to simply relaxing in the Natural History Lounge or gazebos. You can even take an optional flightseeing tour of Denali. Overnight at Denali Backcountry Lodge.

Day 8 - Kantishna to Fairbanks (B):

After the early morning breakfast buffet, board the bus for another great opportunity to enjoy the vista's and wonders of Denali, searching for famous Denali wildlife. Arrive at Denali Rail Depot with time to spare for lunch and a quick trip to Denali Park Visitor's Center before boarding the train to Fairbanks. Overnight in Fairbanks

Day 9 - Fairbanks (B):

  Fairbanks AlaskaToday, embark on the Riverboat Discovery Tour; a three-and-a half hour cruise on an authentic Sternwheeler Riverboat that will take you into the heart of Alaska. As a part of your cruise, take a personalized tour of the Chena Indian Village with Alaskan Native guides, it’s a great way to gain insight into the Athabascan Indian culture. You will then take a shuttle to a tour that will give you insight into Fairbanks gold mining history; the Gold Dredge No. 8. Take a train ride, see the massive gold dredge, and try your hand at gold panning - you get to keep what you find! Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 10 - Fairbanks (B):

Today, board an air-conditioned luxury Motorcoach and embark on the Fairbanks City Tour. See the historic downtown log cabin Visitor Center, the Trans Alaskan Pipeline, University of Alaska Museum and Botanical Gardens, and all the rest of the sights that make Fairbanks so unique. Your 7-day trip ends with this city tour.

Made it back to Florida!

We and all our luggage made it back to Florida last week. We are still digesting the wonderful time we had and all the adventures we experienced.
