Quant and Comfy

Very quant and comfy. And, the curtians did a great job darkening the room. Thank you, we slept great!

Very Accomodating

My handicapped child wanted to go to visit the Alaska wilderness, and they had everything in place to make the lodging and tours accessible for us... They even picked us up from the airport. I can't wait to do all of the tours! Thank you so much for the beautiful memories.

Karen S. from Montgomery, AL - August 2009

Great Naturalists

Naturalists were full of informative and interesting info. Food was delicious, well prepared and served. Managers were very helpful. We loved it!

Grand Highlights and Glacier Cruise/Tour

Grand Highlights

From Anchorage watch for wildlife as you skirt the shores of Turnagain Arm. You just might catch a glimpse of beluga whales at Beluga Point and there's an abundance of waterfowl at Potter Marsh. The sights unfold as your motor coach drive continues along the Seward Highway, a National Forest Scenic Byway. This drive was voted one of the countries most scenic roadways by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.

When you arrive at the visitor center, take some time to browse the glaciology exhibits. It's a great way to learn about the forces of nature that are at work in and around Portage Lake. And just think the glacier used to be visible from the Visitor Center and now it has receded out of sight.

But you will get a close-up view from the decks of the mv Ptarmigan. This sightseeing vessel has been specially designed to navigate the iceberg-dotted waters of the lake to within 300 yards of Portage Glacier. Enjoy the spectacular views and the expert narration from a seat in the enclosed lounge or on the open-air observation deck.

On the way back to Anchorage, stop at the Alyeska Ski Resort, a popular international playground that offers winter and summer activities from the luxurious Hotel Alyeska. You'll have time for lunch on your own and an optional tram ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska. Here the 4-diamond Seven Glaciers restaurant offers gourmet meals and outstanding views.

Also included is a comprehensive tour of Anchorage, including a stop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
