Have your own
transportation? Cruise the tranquil Portage Lake, about an hour south of Anchorage, to Portage Glacier. It is truly worth the drive! The cruise takes only one hour, but it could be the most impressive 60 minutes of your life. Watch for huge chunks of ice to break away and crash in to the lake as the mv Ptarmigan weaves through iceberg-dotted waters. This is the best glacier cruise in Alaska for the money.
Really enjoyed the stay here, and would recommend to friends. Staff was pleasant, surroundings were outstanding and the guides/naturalists were fantastic!

My handicapped child wanted to go to visit the Alaska wilderness, and they had everything in place to make the lodging and tours accessible for us... They even picked us up from the airport. I can't wait to do all of the tours! Thank you so much for the beautiful memories.

Wonderful people, comfortable cabins with a beautiful view! The location and facilities are great but my memories will center on the superb staff, they were very warm and helpful!
