Within half an hour of departing Anchorage, keep an eye out for wildlife and magnificent views of Mt. McKinley. Weather permitting, the train will slow to allow passengers to take photos. North of Talkeetna, cross the 918-foot Hurricane Gulch trestle, 296 feet above the creek below. Immediately after departing Denali, enter the scenic Nenana River Canyon, a popular spot for whitewater rafting. Before reaching Fairbanks, the train crosses the Tanana River via one of the world's longest single-span bridges.
