Every Alaska vacation should include a trip to Denali National Park; however, finding a right place to stay can be a challenge. For a park of size more than six million acres, there is only one road, Park Road, with limited access. Private vehicles can drive on the road up to mile 15, and the rest of the road is accessible only by park-sanctioned bus trips.
Deep inside Denali National Park, services are limited. Adventurers venturing deep into the park are responsible for meeting their own food, water, electricity, and telecommunications needs. It’s a wild place!
Denali National Park lodging can be categorized into lodging inside the park and lodging outside the park. We own and operate Denali Backcountry Lodge deep inside Denali National Park in the Kantishna region, and we also own and operate Denali Cabins at the park entrance.
Lodging Inside Denali National Park
Lodging outside the park is a great way to experience Denali by indulging in various day activities. But for more immersive experience, one far away from public access, in the heart of millions of acres of wilderness, there is no other place than in Kantishna at Denali Backcountry Lodge. Incredible views, an abundance of wildlife, peace and quiet, and a chance to live off the grid draw these adventurous souls.
Denali Backcountry Lodge lies at the very end of the restricted 92 mile Denali National Park Road, nestled in a snug valley carved by Moose Creek as it winds to the Yukon.

Lodging Near Denali National Park
Many guests coming to Denali stay near the park entrance along a ten-mile stretch of the Parks Highway known as the Denali Town Site. While not technically inside the park, the area still offers beautiful views, vibrant forests, and chances to encounter wildlife. There are various tour activities that one can experience at the park entrance like rafting, ATV Tours, or flightseeing. Denali Cabins, our property outside the park, offers all the advantages of lodging near the entrance. And while it’s not quite the same as lodging inside the park, guests can still see all of the Denali’s road-accessible areas by joining the Denali Backcountry Adventure. The Adventure is a 13-hour, full-day tour of the park that travels the entire length of the park road.
Denali Cabins is a collection of 42 cedar cabins located near the entrance to Denali National Park which combines the charm of Alaskan cabins with the comfort of a hotel room.
