Talkeetna Alaska Vacation Tour
& Travel Information
Talkeetna is located about 115 miles north of Anchorage on the way to Fairbanks. Established as a mining town and trading post during the Susitna area gold rush in 1896, Talkeetna was chosen as the site for a riverboat steamer station in 1915 that transported supplies to prospectors heading north.
Today, Talkeetna is known as the
jumping off point for those seeking to conquer North America's tallest peak, Mt.
McKinley or Denali. Situated near the base of Denali, Talkeetna offers stunning
views of the mountain and is reputed to be among the best locations for
photographing this iconic peak.
