Talkeetna is located north of Wasilla off the George Parks Highway. This little town was founded in the pioneer days of Alaska, and was once only accessible by boat, plane or dogsled in the winter. The Railroad was established in the early 1900's and the road was completed in 1964.
The town is now used as a rest spot for travelers on their way north, and for the hikers that want to ascend Denali. This is considered the 'first step' towards conquering the mountain. This little town will charm you in unexpected ways.
